From Bad Times to Good Times

My sister was going through a rough period in her life a few months ago. She had gotten a divorce from her no good husband who cheated on her. This left her in a bit of a financial down turn. She lost her job when the company she was working for went out of business, which made things even worse. I told my sister that she could stay with me as long as she needed to, but she didn’t want to be a burden and looked for apartments for rent in Tallahassee. My sister has always been like that, wanting to be independent and not a strain on the lives of others.

While she was looking for apartments, my sister got a part time job at a package facility. She had to examine and sort packages that were going to be shipped out all over the country. She was hoping to get a full time job, but she wasn’t able to find any openings. Some of the ones that she applied for just told her that they thought her resume was great, but they didn’t have any positions available. The other ones didn’t reply back at all, which made her frustrated. I’ve been in that situation before, and it never feels good. I would at least appreciate a rejection letter, rather than getting nothing at all.

Things turned around for my sister, as she was able to move into a full time job at the package facility, and at the same time she was able to find an apartment that she could afford. What was even more lucky for her was that the apartment wasn’t too far from her work place, so she could just take her time getting to work. I wish I had that luxury. My job takes around 40 minutes to get to by car, and that’s not counting traffic.
